Film information
Story: A triple bill of thrillers with women at the helm. In 'The Gift' Angie Wilson (Cate Blanchett) has a gift of psychic powers and uses this gift to support her family by reading the cards to neighbours wanting to know what the future will hold for them. When the beautiful and sexy Jessica King (Katie Holmes) goes missing, Annie is haunted by visions of her bound and tortured body. A murder investigation is launched but the police are reluctant to use Annie for their help. But a shortage of leads forces them to call on Annie's powers for help. She tries to help through the cards but cannot picture the killer. At the same time her violent neighbour Donnie Barksdale has been threatening her and her kids, as his wife has been visiting Annie for help. Donnie also owns the lake where Jessica was found murdered, making him the prime suspect in the murder case. In 'Valentine' best friends Kate (Marley Shelton), Paige (Denise Richards), Dorothy (Jessica Capshaw) and Lily (Jessica Cauffiel) are terrified after another of their group, Shelly (Katherine Heigl), is found murdered. When the girls then begin receiving death threats themselves, they suspect the killer might be a boy they teased mercilessly at school. The boy in question hasn't been seen for years, and when they discover that he has undergone plastic surgery, suddenly all the men in their lives come under suspicion. Whilst 'Bless the Child' sees nurse Maggie O'Connor's (Kim Basinger) life transformed when her little sister Jenna (Angela Bettis) suddenly turns up on her doorstep and leaves her autistic baby, Cody, for Maggie to look after. But six years later, after Maggie and Cody have become very close, Jenna returns with sinister new husband Eric (Rufus Sewell) and together they abduct the young girl. Only then does Maggie discover that Cody possesses supernatural powers so strong that the future of mankind lies within her grasp. Maggie however only cares about an innocent little girl caught up in extraordinary circumstances, and with the help of an FBI agent (Jimmy Smits) who specialises in occult-related crimes, she does her best to deliver Cody to safety.
