Film information

Story: Collection of documentaries presented and narrated by Sir David Attenborough. Set within The Royal Botanic Gardens in London, home to a remarkable 90% of all known species of plant, 'Kingdom of Plants' aims to provide an in-depth exploration into the life of plants. Through the use of the latest technology and advanced filming techniques, Attenborough and his crew set out to capture the life and dynamism of plants, something that is often invisible to the human eye. 'Galapagos' is a documentary about the islands of the Galapagos. This programme follows the lives and journeys of remarkable animals from the Giant Tortoise to the Waved Albatross, allowing the viewer to get up close to the creatures and their natural habitats. 'Micro Monsters' explores the hidden world of microscopic insects and bugs. Delving deep into the everyday lives of creatures such as killer ants, spiders and scorpions, this programme shows the audience the intriguing acts they perform from weaving silk trap doors to wearing their victims' corpses. Using modern scientific advances and research into fossils, 'Rise of Animals' investigates how animals alive today have evolved from a small number of ancient life forms. The historical footage and cutting-edge CGI used in the show allows viewers to discover how human beings resemble those primeval creatures. In 'Natural History Museum Alive', David Attenborough brings to life the residents of London's famous museum. From extinct creatures such as the dodo and dinosaurs to some lesser known animals from Earth's prehistoric past, Attenborough highlights the distinctive features of the residents he meets and discusses how they may have lived and died.
