Film information

Based on: The novel by Jack London

Story: TV movie adaptation of Jack London's classic gold prospecting novel. Buck the dog has not had an easy life; stolen from his original kindly owners in California, he is mistreated and beaten before being sold to French Canadian guide Perrault (Luc Morrissette). Taken to Yukon, Buck finds a place in Perrault's dog team, delivering messages to Dawson City. It is there that Buck is taken under the wing of John Thornton (Rutger Hauer) and his niece, Helen, who are off to search for gold in the Klondike. They are joined by widowed saloon owner, Maggie (Lynne Adams), and her son, Josh, and together set off to seek their fortunes.
