Film information

Based on: Real events/The novel by Sanya Pholprasit

Story: Triple bill of historical adventure features. 'Clash of Empires' (2010), based loosely on real historical events, is set against the backdrop of ancient Malay, Roman and Chinese civilisations in the 2nd century and chronicles the hazardous journey of Merong Mahawangsa (Stephen Rahman Hughes) as he escorts a young Roman prince to his wedding to a beautiful Chinese princess. 'Barbarossa - Siege Lord' (2009) stars Rutger Hauer as German Emperor Frederick I or 'Barbarossa'. The power-hungry Barbarossa will stop at nothing to conquer his neighbouring kingdoms and revive the empire once presided over by Charles the Great. But in his attempts to invade Italy, Barbarossa meets with fierce opposition from the Company of Death, a loosely-formed army led by Milanese forces. 'Edge of the Empire' (2010) is a Thai historical action epic based on the award-winning 1973 novel by Sanya Pholprasit. Set in southern Mongolia over 1000 years ago, the film tells the story of the uprising of the Thai people against the mighty Han empire that enslaved and oppressed them for centuries.
