Story: A collection of ten classic Westerns starring John Wayne. In 'Angel and the Badman' (1946), Quart Evans (Wayne), ex-deputy sheriff of Wyatt Earp, is now a rough and ready gunslinger. After being injured in a shootout, Evans is taken in and nursed by a Quaker family. He finds himself falling for the daughter (Gail Russell), and attempts to give up gunslinging. However, a determination to bring a group of murderers to justice threatens his new-found peace of mind. In 'Blue Steel' (1934), a town is held to ransom by a band of outlaws when gold is discovered. All looks grim until John Carruthers (Wayne) comes on the scene and stands up to them. George 'Gabby' Hayes and Eleanor Hunt co-star. 'Randy Rides Alone' (1934) sees Randy Bowers (Wayne) being released from jail to track down the real villains after being wrongly accused of murder and robbery. With Matt the Mute at its head, the gang leads Randy into some tricky situations but gives him the opportunity to twirl his six-shooter with professional ease before proving his unrivalled marksmanship. In the early short 'The Desert Trail' (1935), Wayne stars as a championship rodeo rider who finds himself falsely accused of being a bank robber, so he must battle to clear his name. In 'The Lucky Texan' (1934), Wayne stars as Jerry Mason, a young Texan who becomes partners with an old rancher, Jake Benson (George 'Gabby' Hayes), and they strike it rich with a gold mine. Their lives become complicated when they attract the attention of the bad guys and a woman (Barbara Sheldon). In 'The Star Packer' (1934), Wayne stars as a tough cowboy who infiltrates a gang of outlaws in order to track down the man responsible for the murder of his family. In 'The Man From Utah' (1934), John Weston (Wayne) is asked by the local sheriff to investigate the deaths of a number of rodeo riders. He uncovers the crooked antics of the rodeo sponsor, who makes sure winning horsemen don't live to collect their prizes. 'Winds of the Wasteland' (1936) sees John Blair (Wayne), a greenhorn cowboy who along with his partner Larry Adams (Lane Chandler), swindled into buying a delapidated stagecoach line to the nowhere town of Crescent City. Their prospects are not as rosy as the unscrupulous seller, 'Honest' Cal Drake (Douglas Cosgrove) would have had them believe: Crescent City is a ghost mining town with only two inhabitants...In 'The Trail Beyond' (1934), Wayne plays a tough cowboy who takes on a villainous gang after they kidnap a young girl and take control of a gold mine. In 'Hell Town' (1938), Cowhand Dare Rudd (Wayne) likes to gamble more than anything, and this earns him the disapproval of his socially-upstanding cousin Tom Fillmore (Johnny Mack Brown). In fact, Dare and Tom don't see eye-to-eye on anything, and seem happy to keep out of each other's way. But then Dare falls for Tom's girl, and things starts to get complicated.
