Film information

Based on: The novel by Zane Grey

Story: Double-bill of early John Wayne westerns. In 'Hell Town' (1938), gambling cowhand Dare Rudd (Wayne) earns the disapproval of his socially upstanding cousin Tom Fillmore (Johnny Mack Brown). The two men don't see eye to eye on anything and are content to keep out of each other's way, but matters become complicated when Dare falls for Tom's girlfriend. In 'Blue Steel' (1934) a town is held to ransom by a band of outlaws when gold is discovered. All looks grim for the honest townfolk until the arrival of US Marshall John Carruthers (Wayne). Curruthers goes undercover and is shocked to find out that one of the town's leading citizens is in on the scam.
