Film information
Story: Triple bill of comedies centred around the inevitable chaos that results when commitment-shy men find themselves tasked with looking after children. 'Grown Ups' (2010) focuses on the reunion of five former school friends and their families at a lakeside house. Lenny (Adam Sandler), Eric (Kevin James), Kurt (Chris Rock), Marcus (David Spade) and Rob (Rob Schneider) were part of a basketball team that won a famous championship victory almost 30 years ago. As they bond anew and try to educate their kids on the way the world was back then, the friends come to realise that just because they have grown older doesn't necessarily mean that they have to grow up. In 'Big Daddy' (1999) Adam Sandler takes on the role of Sonny Koufax, a thirty-two-year-old loser who refuses to take responsibility for his life and spends his days watching television in his pyjamas. The day after his girlfriend Vanessa (Kristy Swanson) dumps him, five-year-old Julian (Cole and Dylan Sprouse) arrives at his house, claiming to be the son of his recently departed flatmate. Hoping to convince Vanessa of his readiness for responsibility, Sonny makes the rash decision to adopt Julian, only to discover that there is more to parenting than meets the eye. 'Role Models' (2008) follows the fate of Wheeler (Seann William Scott) and Danny (Paul Rudd), two fast-living energy drink salesmen who sample a few too many of their products and end up crashing one of the company trucks. Hauled before a judge, the two friends have to decide between opting for jail time or becoming mentors to some troubled kids. They soon wish they'd plumped for the former as the kids give them the run-around and the director of the centre, Gayle Sweeny (Jane Lynch), explains what they're doing wrong: to set an example to the kids they first have to grow up themselves.
