Film information

Based on: The novel by Ray Gaulden

Story: When a man is accused of cheating at poker in the town of Rincon, Colorado, gambler Van Morgan (Dean Martin) tries to intervene on his behalf, but his attempts fail and the man is lynched. Sometime later, Morgan hears that members of the lynch mob have begun turning up dead, each one of them murdered by hanging, and he decides to return to Rincon to investigate. However, since he was last there a gold rush has hit the town, bringing with it an influx of new faces, including preacher Rev. Jonathan Rudd (Robert Mitchum) and brothel keeper Lily Langford (Inger Stevens), and this only makes Morgan's task more difficult.
