Story: Box set containing three popular drama movies. 'Dear Frankie' (2004) is a heartwarming drama about nine-year-old Frankie (Jack McElhone) and his mother, Lizzie (Emily Mortimer), who have been on the move ever since he can remember. To protect her son from the truth about his abusive father, Lizzie has invented a story to satisfy Frankie's curiosity. She regularly writes Frankie a letter from his make-believe father who she claims works aboard a ship travelling to exotic lands. However, Lizzie soon finds out his 'father's' ship will be arriving in a few days. Now, Lizzie must choose between telling Frankie the truth and hatching a desperate plan to find the perfect stranger to play the perfect father. 'In America' (2003) is a moving family drama directed by Jim Sheridan. Young Irish actor Johnny Sullivan (Paddy Considine) smuggles his wife Sarah (Samantha Morton) and two young daughters Christy and Ariel (played by sisters Sarah and Emma Bolger) into America via Canada in the hope of jump-starting his career in New York. The couple have another, sadder reason for uprooting the family from their home in Ireland: they are mourning the recent death of their third child, a toddler son. However, despite their hopes of starting anew, New York initially turns out to be a less welcoming place than they had hoped - and the strains of poverty and city living soon start to take their toll on the tender, bereaved family. The film premiered at the 2002 Toronto Film Festival. Finally in 'Girl With A Pearl Earring' (2003), Griet (Scarlett Johansson) is a young woman who sets off from her family home in the countryside to work as a servant for the Vermeer household in the burgh of Delft. To begin with, she is very lowly in the servant ranks, but is then given responsibility for cleaning the master of the house's painting quarters. Master of the house, the unsociable Vermeer (Colin Firth), is taken with Griet's looks and over some time paints her portrait. This upsets his pregnant and jealous wife, Catharina (Essie Davis) and his benefactor, van Ruijven (Tom Wilkinson), who likes to decide what Vermeer should be painting. All the while, Griet is forming her own special relationship with a peasant boy (Cillian Murphy) of her own age.
