Subtitling comments:
BradStevens on 04-09-2006:
The main feature has English subtitles. The making of documentary is also subtitled. There are two subtitle options. The default option subtitles all the Danish dialogue, but it is also possible to use the remote control to switch to a HoH subtitle track that subtitles everything (though it doesn't seem to be possible to do this via the menu). There are no subtitles for the commentary track or trailer. Curiously, the packaging doesn't mention any subtitles at all. Beware High Fliers' rental version, which contains neither subtitles nor extras.

Film information:
Story: Controversial experimental drama from Danish director Lars von Trier, exploring slavery and prejudice in the Deep South of the 1930s, a thematic sequel to his earlier 'Dogville' (2003). Arriving on the cotton plantation Manderlay, fugitive Grace (Bryce Dallas Howard) and her mob of gangsters find a world where slavery has been allowed to continue. Freeing the slaves, Grace tries to teach them the rudiments of democracy and self-reliance, but soon comes to realise that she is merely imposing her own values on a culture of which she has little or no understanding. Danny Glover, Willem Dafoe and Lauren Bacall also star.
