Film information:
Based on: The stories by Herman C. McNeile
Story: First three films from the 1930s series about the ex-war hero, adventurer and private detective Hugh 'Bulldog' Drummond, forever managing to put off marriage to his fiancee Phyllis. In 'Bulldog Drummond Escapes' (1937) Ray Milland takes the title role, meeting Phyllis (Heather Angel) for the first time as Bulldog seeks to rescue her from her grasping family. 'Bulldog Drummond Comes Back' (1937) sees the adventurer, played this time by John Howard, racing to rescue Phyllis from the clutches of two continental villains, assisted by John Barrymore's Colonel Neilson of Scotland Yard. In the final film, 'Bulldog Drummond's Bride' (1939), marriage to Phyllis seems inevitable, until the pair are embroiled in a spate of bank robberies that are sweeping Paris. Based on the novels and stories written by Herman C. McNeile.
