Film information

Story: Quirky comedy from indie film director Tom DiCillo starring Denis Leary as Ray, a New York City police detective whose life has been in a downward spiral since his wife and child died in a car accident several years previously. Things don't get any better when he stops off at a diner with his partner Jerry (Steve Buscemi) just as an armed robbery is taking place. Reaching for his gun, he puts his back out. The six-year-old child who then picks up the gun and shoots the robbers becomes an instant hero - while Ray becomes the joke of the NYPD, dubbed 'the loser cop'. At Jerry's suggestion he makes an appointment with a chiropractor, the beautiful Dr Beamer (Elizabeth Hurley), prompting him to think afresh about love and romance. Meanwhile, the oddball characters in Ray's apartment block are experiencing problems of their own.
