Film information

Story: Basil a barber is in love with the innkeeper's daughter, Kitri, but her father wants her to marry Gamche, a foppish nobleman. When Don Quixote and his manservant Sancho Panza arrive at the inn he assumes it is a famous castle and that Kitri is his lost love Dulcinea. Sancho is teased by the townsfolk but rescued by Don Quixote. The sight of Kitri transports Don Quixote into a dreamworld where Dulcinea appears in many guises. In the final act Don Quixote realises that Kitri can never replace Dulcinea and helps, amidst scenes of Spanish dancing, to bring Basil and Kitri together for their marriage.
