Film information

Story: Entire first series of the pedigreed sixties and seventies sitcom, scripted by John Cleese, Graham Chapman, Graeme Garden and Bill Oddie that spawned 6 film versions. Doctor In The House centres on the exploits of hapless medical student Michael Upton (Barry Evans). Upton is a sober and somewhat studious lad following in his father's footsteps into the medical profession. The fun focused on he and his fellow students' capers around campus and ward - they were customarily less studious than Upton. The famous surgeon Prof. Loftus (Ernest Clark) was the primary antagonist but the bigheaded Dr. Bingham (Richard O' Sullivan) was equally irritating. Episodes included; 'Why Do You Want to Be a Doctor?' 'Settling In,' 'It's All Go,' 'Peace and Quiet,' 'The Students are Revolting,' 'Rallying Round,' 'If in Doubt--Cut It Out,' 'War of the Mascots,' 'Getting the Bird,' 'The Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever Casino,' 'Keep It Clean,' 'All for Love' and 'Pass or Fail.'

Starring: Barry Evans, Robin Nedwell, George Layton, Geoffrey Davies, Ernest Clark, Simon Cuff, Ralph Michael, Martin Shaw, Yutte Stensgaard

Directed by: Maurice Murphy, David Askey, Bill Turner, Mark Stuart

Written by: John Cleese, Graham Chapman, Graeme Garden, Bill Odie, Barry Cryer
