Film information
Story: Kirk Douglas stars in this crime thriller, directed by William Wyler, following a day in the life of hard-boiled police detective Jim McLeod (Douglas) as he encounters the petty thieves and damaged women who are being brought into the station over the day. Merciless in his approach to those who break the law, McLeod doesn't know that his obsessive pursuit of an illegal, backstreet abortionist will have serious consequences for his life and career, and that the closer he gets to catching his quarry, the closer he is heading towards personal disaster.
