Film information

Based on: The novel by Matthew F. Jones

Story: Thriller about a young man who gets more than he bargained for when he saves a stranger's life. Nat Banyon (Lucas Black) is flat broke and on his way to find farm work in Wyoming when he saves the life of a mysterious older man named Finch (Peter Coyote). His actions are rewarded with a job painting the eccentric Finch's decrepit motel in the small town of Deepwater. There he meets Finch's beautiful young wife, Iris (Mia Maestro), with whom he begins a passionate affair. Though suspicious, Finch continues to make Nat feel like part of the family, but his motives are unclear when he challenges Nat to a 'friendly' boxing match. When the dead body of one of Finch's arch rivals turns up, and Iris tells Nat of her plan to steal the coming rewards of Finch's 'side business', Nat soon realises that he's in over his head and plans to make an escape before it's too late.
