Film information

Based on: The play by Terence Rattigan/a true story

Story: Feature-length ITV crime drama adapted from the play by Terence Rattigan, which in turn is based on a real 1930s murder case. Helen Mirren stars as Alma, the pretty and musically talented wife of elderly, impotent architect Francis Rattenbury (Harry Andrews). When her passionate affair with hired handyman George Bowman (David Morrissey) leads to Francis's murder, Alma and George find themselves in well over their heads as barrister TJ O'Connor (David Suchet) mounts a defence based on George's misinterpretation of his relationship with Alma.
