Film information

Based on: The book 'Daybreak of Freedom' by Stewart Burns

Story: A dramatisation of the historic events which took place in Montgomery, Alabama in 1955. When middle-aged black woman Rosa Parks is arrested after refusing to give up her bus seat to a white passenger, she finds herself thrown in jail and charged under the State's segregation laws. This causes outrage among Montogomery's black community, and led by a young Martin Luther King (Jeffrey Wright), they rally together and start a 24-hour boycott of the city's buses. Soon, however, this turns into a year long struggle against prejudice and racial inequality which would be instrumental in transforming American society.
