Film information

Based on: The novel by Bram Stoker

Story: Five vampire horror films. 'Near Dark' (1987) is a vampire movie with a western backdrop. Caleb (Adrian Pasdar) is a farmboy living in the midwest of America. One Friday night he gets involved with Mae (Jenny Wright), one of a group of vampires who have been roaming America since the Civil War. Trapped by Mae's vampire family, Caleb is forcibly initiated into their horrific lifestyle as he tries desperately to save Mae and save himself. 'Dracula' (2002) is an Italian-produced television adaptation of Bram Stoker's classic novel, transposed to a present-day setting. A group of young adventurers, led by American investment banker Jonathan Harker (Hardy Krüger Jr) and his fiancée Mina (Stefania Rocca), are hoping to make their fortune seeking real-estate opportunities in Eastern Europe. Soon after their arrival, Jonathan is summoned to the Romanian castle of a potential client, the mysterious Count Tepes (Patrick Bergin), for an important business deal. But Jonathan discovers too late that Tepes is none other than the legendary vampire, Dracula. 'Nosferatu' (1979) is director Werner Herzog's imaginative reworking of the 1922 classic, based on Stoker's novel and starring Klaus Kinski as the immortal vampire with Bruno Ganz as Jonathan Harker. In 'Vampires: Out For Blood' (2004), police detective Hank Holten (Kevin Dillon) goes undercover into the seedy world of underground raves in order to solve the mysterious disappearances of several clubbers. Before long Holten has discovered that a cabal of vampires are to blame, and when he delves deeper into the case his superiors become more convinced that Holten has lost his mind. But when Holten is bitten by the head vampire, his quest for justice becomes a race against time to destroy the killers before he loses his soul. Finally, in 'Vampyres' (1974), two bisexual vampires (Marianne Morris and Anulka) spend their evenings hunting male and female prey to take back to their lair for orgies of sex and blood. When a young couple stumble upon the vampires' lair they are instantly drawn deep into their world of savage lust and desire.
