Based on: Two one-act plays by Tennessee Williams

Story: A Sicilian businessman (Eli Wallach) intrudes upon the lives of a couple in the Deep South - a boorish husband (Karl Malden) and his young, sexually promiscuous wife (Carroll Baker). Based on Tennessee Williams' play, the film caused uproar on its release, being condemned by the powerful Legion of Decency.
