Film information

Story: Sam Mendes directs this comedy drama scripted by husband-and-wife writers Dave Eggers and Vendela Vida. An unmarried couple in their 30s, Burt (John Krasinski) and Verona (Maya Rudolph), are expecting their first child. They live near Burt's parents, Jerry (Jeff Daniels) and Gloria (Catherine O'Hara), and hope that once the baby is born they will enjoy the proximity and support of its doting grandparents. When they discover that Jerry and Gloria have other plans and are shortly jetting off to live in Europe, Burt and Verona set off on their own voyage of discovery across America, looking for somewhere suitable to settle down and bring up their children. Along the way they re-connect with old friends and relatives, and do what they can to glean some inspiration from the various family models and situations they encounter.
