Film information

Based on: The comic strip by Masamune Shirow

Story: Feature version of the Japanese anime series. In the year 2131, the Third World War has devastated mankind, and has led to the creation of a utopian society in the hi-tech city of Olympus. Deunen is a female warrior from the scorched wastlelands who meets her long lost boyfriend Briareos, who has been transformed into a half-machine cyborg. Travelling with him to Olympus, the pair meet Hitomi, a member of the genetically engineered race who have taken over the city and are trying to defend it from rebel attack. Deunen and Briareos stay to help Hitomi and his people defend the city, but the longer they stay there, the more Deunen begins to suspect that her real allegiance should lie with the rebels trying to take it over.
