Film information

Story: Box set featuring five Andrew Lloyd Webber musicals. 'Cats' (1998) was the first ever film of a Lloyd Webber musical taken straight from the stage - at the New London Theatre on Drury Lane. The longest running musical in the West End, this production features Elaine Paige and Sir John Mills. 'Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat' (1999) stars Donny Osmond as Joseph, the titular owner of the dazzling outer-garment who arouses the murderous envy of his siblings. Maria Friedman, Richard Attenborough and Joan Collins co-star, and songs include 'Close Every Door to Me', 'Go Go Go Joseph' and 'Any Dream Will Do'. 'Jesus Christ Superstar' (2000) was originally staged in 1971, but made a triumphant return to the West End in 1996. This version was specially filmed at Pinewood Studios in 2000, and stars Glenn Carter and Rik Mayall in a song-packed retelling of Jesus Christ's last days on Earth. Numbers include 'Superstar' and 'I Don't Know How to Love Him'. 'By Jeeves' (2001) is a musical based on the works of P.G. Wodehouse, starring John Scherer as the none-too-bright man-about-town Bertie Wooster and Martin Jarvis as his long-suffering butler Jeeves. Written and directed by respected playwright Alan Ayckbourn, with Lloyd Webber supplying the music. Finally, 'Evita' (1996), is a big screen adaptation of the hit show, starring Madonna as Eva Peron. Narrated by Ché (Antonio Banderas), the film opens with the news of Eva's death in 1952, and then proceeds to tell her life story in flashback. Born into poverty, Eva travelled to Buenos Aires with tango singer Augustin Magaldi (Jimmy Nail) at the age of 15, and became in turn a model and actress. She then became involved with politician Juan Peron (Jonathan Pryce), campaigning for his release when he was imprisoned by the authorities. Freed by the people, Peron then became president of Argentina, with Eva as his first lady.
