Film information

Based on: The novel 'Black Friday' by David Goodis

Story: A fugitive needs all his wits about him when he becomes involved in a criminal gang's plot in this crime drama from French director René Clément. Trying to outrun the assassins on his trail, Tony (Jean-Louis Trintignant) arrives in Canada to start a new life, but soon finds himself having to seek the protection of a gang of criminals led by Charley (Robert Ryan). With half the gang unsure whether they should kill him, Tony, hoping to convince them, offers his services when he learns that they're plotting to kidnap the daughter of a local crime boss. But just when all seems to be going well, events suddenly take an unforeseen course, forcing Tony to think fast as he tries to stay one step ahead of the pack.
