Film information
Story: Box set containing three popular boxing movies. In 'Ali' (2001), Will Smith plays boxing legend Muhammad Ali. Beginning with Ali's 1964 World Heavyweight Championship victory over Sonny Liston, and moving through his subsequent involvement with the Nation of Islam and refusal to be drafted during the Vietnam war, the film tells of Ali's rise to fame, the years in which he was banned from boxing due to his political and religious commitments, and his triumphant return in the early 1970s, culminating in the famous Rumble in the Jungle. Also stars Jon Voight as sports commentator Howard Cosell, Jamie Foxx as Ali's friend Drew 'Bundini' Brown, and Mario van Peebles as Malcolm X. 'Million Dollar Baby' (2004) is an Academy Award-winning drama directed by and starring Clint Eastwood. Frankie Dunn (Eastwood), a down-on-his-luck former boxing manager, runs a small gym in downtown Los Angeles. One day, Maggie Fitzgerald (Hilary Swank) enters Frankie's gym and announces she needs a trainer. Frankie doesn't think much of women boxing and Maggie lacks experience. However, she sees boxing as her one chance at a better life and won't give up easily Finally, in 'Price of Glory', frustrated by the premature end to his own career, ex-boxer Arturo Ortega (Jimmy Smits) pushes his three young sons to succeed where he failed, and enters them into a punishing series of small-time boxing contests. Ten years later, with the three sons poised at the beginning of professional careers in the ring, they each begin to question their father's authority, taking their first steps towards independence. But will they find their own freedom only at the cost of losing their family solidarity?
