Film information
Story: The Grammy-Award winning, legendary African singer and guitarist, Ali Farka Toure returns to his roots as a farmer and family man, using his money and connections to improve agricultural and social conditions in the province of Timbuktu. This documentary follows Ali as he goes about his daily routine, checking the crops and water pumps; and fulfilling his role and responsibilities as an important local figure. Music is an integral part of Ali's life in Niafunke. Local musicians on traditional instruments augment his acoustic and electric guitar playing. They come from the various tribes and ethnic groups of the area, from which all of Ali's music derives. Tracklist: 'Mali Dje', 'Boogie', 'Gommi', 'Chanson Sur Niafunke', 'Rehearsing Song', 'Keito' and 'Tulumba'.
