Film information

Story: Version of the Benjamin Britten opera, directed by Sir Peter Hall at the Glyndebourne Festival Opera. Albert Herring is repressed by his domineering mother and ridiculed by his peers. When local dignitary Lady Billows cannot find a suitable May Queen, Albert is chosen instead as May King. Unfortunately, on the big day Albert's friend Sid laces his drink with rum, and after a drunken spech Albert runs away to seek adventure.
